The extension on this unique South London flat was an opportunity for the entire Resi team to flex their creative muscles. The flat was situated on top of a car park, giving a lovely view of the local park that the homeowner wanted to be able to appreciate, but without members of the public peering in. He also wanted his extension to be private from the two above flats which have overlooking terraces, all while maintaining the flat’s existing bright and airy feel.
Due to the scale of the project, our planning team applied for full planning approval, which was granted the first time round after some close collaboration with our design team. Our building regulations team then took over to ensure the safety and durability of the structure, subsequently leading to the green light for construction. Resi’s Connect service put the homeowner in contact with My Extension Ltd, a contractor with a proven track record of success with Resi projects.
The final result for this homeowner is a beautiful living room extension, bringing more space and light into the home while maintaining the style the homeowner had already created. The bright and airy feel is maintained throughout the room with sliding doors, bifold doors and a well-positioned skylight, which perfectly illuminates a dining table and large wildflower painting. Privacy is respected with the recessed skylight preventing views from above, while a fence obscures the views of nosey park attendees. The exterior style of the extension blends seamlessly with the existing property as per the request of the planning authority and is constructed to the highest quality of finish.
The standout feature of this extension is its connectivity to the outdoors. The large bi-fold doors allow almost the entire wall between the living room and terrace to be removed, creating a versatile space that can be adapted for summery social occasions or the rainy autumn months. The sliding doors at the rear of the extension open up much like a Juliet balcony, providing the homeowner with views of the park from inside his home while also giving another option for letting fresh air into the space. The success of this transformation is proof that growing your home is not limited to homeowners, but flat owners have loads of options too!

Resi are a great investment
Resi have been great. We knew we needed help and saw a couple of “all in” firms before we found Resi. The others were extremely expensive and not as flexible as Resi.

Second time I am using Resi
I have found them to be better in terms of ideas, accuracy and efficiency than any other architect I have worked with.
