It’s no secret, to unlock the most potential in your home, you need the best professionals by your side.
Whether you’re renovating, converting, or extending, you could need up to 10 different tradespeople by your side. How then do you pick the cream of the crop?
This dilemma is exactly why we at Resi created Connect, a complimentary service that ensures you get the very best during each stage of your home journey. From contractors, suppliers, to the professionals you’ll need to comply with building regulations, we can recommend a range of vetted home experts.
So what makes a Connect vetted professional? Here’s how we put together our A list team…
TrustMark
In 2019, we became the official partners of TrustMark - the only Government endorsed quality scheme for UK tradespeople. Working together, we’re using TrustMark to find the best contractors for our customers.
Why contractors? Well, it’s often these tradespeople that can put the homeowner (and their budget) at risk. Despite often being charged with the bulk of a family’s money, builders aren’t held to any official regulatory body or required to obtain any specific qualifications. Because of this lack of regulation, homeowners are more at risk of bad practices, when it comes to the construction stage.
Which is exactly why a Trustmark accreditation is an important consideration for any building contractor looking to join our Connect service. Consumer protection is at the heart of what TrustMark does as an organisation as it strives to ensure consumers have optimum comfort, choice and confidence when choosing a contractor.
By using TrustMark, our customers benefit from…
- Government endorsed quality
- Thorough vetting and approval
- Financial protection
- A service based on quality, not profit
- Dispute resolution

Past working relationship
For contractors hired before our TrustMark partnership and the rest of our tradespeople, Resi employs its own strict set of standards.
One way to bring in new professionals to Connect is if our senior team has worked extensively with them in the past. Though Resi was founded in 2017, our co-founders - Rich and Nick - have been in the industry for over a decade. In that time, they and other senior members of our team, have worked with some truly incredible professionals. It’s from these tried and tested relationships that we bring some of our Connect tradespeople on board.
Work assessment
Of course, part of the reason we trust those we’ve worked with in the past is that we’ve seen them produce quality work again and again.
If considering a company we’ve not previously hired, our Connect team will start a thorough vetting process to check their past work. We’ll assess a balance of their most recent work, and projects from previous years.
If you’re vetting a professional yourself, this mix of old and new is especially important for contractors, as you need to ensure their construction work stands the test of time. Many companies can create a finished product that looks good on day one, but the big question is how it’ll look on day 1000 and above.
References
Once we’ve seen the work for ourselves, the next step will be to confirm good work practices with the previous homeowners. Again, if you are sourcing your own tradespeople, we highly recommend doing the same.
For the best results, you’ll want to gather at least three different references. At Resi, we always conduct our interview with these past clients away from the company we’re considering, and again like to talk to people from recent projects and old.
If the professional you’re considering seems reluctant to let you meet past clients, see this as a major red flag and stay clear.
